about

*100% of profits from the album will be going to Dementia UK*
www.dementiauk.org

2020 has turned out to be a very challenging year in many unexpected ways - from becoming a parent, to a pandemic, to renewed calls and protests for racial equality and justice in America and globally, to my Mums dementia worsening resulting in her having to move from her home into a nursing home. One thing that has remained a constant and a solace through all of it has been reggae music and that's why Bad Marley came about.

The idea was that it would help musicians unable to get out and gig by giving them something to do and that we could raise money for Dementia UK in doing so. Simple. Different Bob but the same idea. Survival is the Bob Marley album from 1979 that I've listened to almost daily whilst rocking my son to sleep and survival is the aim of the game this year. There really is so much trouble in the world.

A massive thanks to every one of our contributing artists who gave us brilliant, unique versions of Bob's songs and their time and efforts for free.-They all have alot of great music available so I urge you to seek some out and enrich your lives Personally I would like to thank my band The Wasters - Will on trumpet, Jay on bass, Sean on drums and Anna on vocals for theircontributions to Small Axe and to Kurt for mastering the whole project. Thanks.

Immersed in reggae as I have been throughout this project I have been inspired by the life, work and memory of the Wailers and this album goes out to all the dead Wailers -Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Carlton Barrett, Earl Lindo, Junior Braithwaite and Cherry Smith. Long may their mighty music reign.

Thanks to Jaap for his cowboy artwork and Zoro Nano for his Bunny, Bob and Peter artwork.

My Mum Pat is a selfless, loving and giving woman still fighting on who inspires me to be a better man everyday
and is simply the reason this album was made. The final song on it - Redemption Song was submitted way past deadline by Jay Jay and when he sent me it he told me that on the day he recorded it for the album he had just found out his Mum had died.

So this album is dedicated to both of them - Pat Graham and Toyo Watanabe and to Amy Doughty and Carry Franklin who both sadly left us way too early last year. And to your Mum too if she is about then give her a hug from me.

Peace
Alex
